Brig. Gen. (ret.) Shimon Sarid

Shimon Sarid is a decorated Israeli aerospace leader with over four decades across military aviation, unmanned systems, and lunar exploration.
He served 28 years in the Israeli Air Force, culminating as Head of the IAF Material Command — responsible for all engineering, R&D, procurement, logistics, and flight safety — and received Israel's highest national defense honor in 1998. He later led unmanned vehicle development at Elbit Systems.
As CEO of SpaceIL since 2020, he is the architect of the Beresheet2 dual-lander lunar mission, one of the most ambitious private space efforts to date. He holds aeronautical engineering credentials from the Technion and a master's with top honors from Boston University.
